The Good Government Book Club meets every few months to discuss books pertaining to best practices and innovation in government. The next meeting will take place on Friday, December 15^th, where we will discuss Nudge, by Richard Thaler and Cass Sunstein.

Nudge was named one of the best books of 2008 by The Economist. It offers thoughts on how governments can construct policies that encourage constituents to choose to act in certain ways. Nudge provides an overview of human psychology as it relates to decision-making and explores how the structure of choices can influence individuals’ decisions. Thaler and Sunstein theorize that governments can use policy to structure choices so that individuals freely elect to behave in ways that are good both for them and for society as a whole.
